I swear the golf gods must hate me! I'm on my way to play my first round in 2 weeks and wham! — flat tire. One? Oh no, two! Yep. Two flat tires @ 7:00 am on the interstate. Gotta love that!
Anyway, I have just 5 words for anyone in the market for tires: Buy the road hazard insurance! I spent $4/tire a year ago for the insurance. I'm not sure why I did, because I had only had one flat tire in 12 years, but boy am I glad I did. I've had three road hazards in a little over a year. (Damn, I've had two today!)
So, long story short, spend a little now, save a lot later. They guy told me that it would have cost me $329 to get replace the two tires I had. That just about made me sick. Then I started thinking, "Why the hell did I ever spend so much on the tires I bought? That's obscene!"
With the exception of keeping all four wheels on the road, things are going well for me right now. I love my job. The people are fabulous. My wife is doing great. We spent "quality time" together this morning washing cars! The dogs are fantastic. They're a little depressed about not being on the webcam recently, but I promised 'em to run it more this week. My brother-in-law, Keith, is out of town. What more could one guy want?!
Y'all have a great week. I'll try to post more later. Oh, one more thing, please click here to send Merrin an email. Tell her to post something sometime!!
Big announcement! I am very proud to annouce that I have accepted a position with the new Westin Beechwood hotel in Fort Worth. Joining the Westin as Business Sales Manager will be a great opportunity for me with a world-class hotel.
The hotel is to open October 1, 2001. Once there is more information online, I will give a link. In the meantime, check out the details on the Westin Beechwood (click here).
On a related note, I would like to thank everyone who has been so gracious to me over the past few years. There are too many people to list here, but I want you to know I sincerely appreciate all the support, love, and mentoring you have provided. You guys are the best! Thank you!
Have no fear! Kevin to the rescue!
I have been selected –no, chosen– to head up the vittles department at the wedding shower we're throwing this weekend for two friends. Who in their right mind would assign this task to me? Most likely no one. But, we're not talking about someone in their right mind, we're talking about my wife. 🙂
Anyway, I have vowed to search the earth for tiny treats and frosty beverages. Stay tuned to the great quest for all the details! Or, if you don't have the patience, I'm laying 2:1 odds that we end up with chicken fingers, veggie trays, and lots of beer. Any takers on that bet?
Life has been very good over the past few days. I really can't go into specific details right now because certain people may be reading this. (No, Mom, not the FBI.) Anyway, I hope to have some really exciting news later this week. I mean, in addition to the vittles.
Have a great day. Argh!
Merrin and I saw this when we drove through Arkansas last summer. Finally, truth in advertising!!!
Got a little bored with Merrin having to work tonight. I tried to catch the dogs in some poses. Anyway, the pics are uploaded to the Photo Album pages.
When I read this, I wanted to do a back flip! Now, I'm a geek – I admit that. But I'm also a lazy geek. So this Windows Tip was especially exciting to me.
Do you wish you could clik "Start" and get almost instant access to your Inbox, Network Neighborhood or the Control Panel? Here's the details:
TechTV | Windows Tip: Turn Your Control Panel Into an Expanding Menu
Be warned: Back up your registry first! Dont' know how? Open regedit (Start>Run>regedit) and then click Registry>Export Registry. Save it on a disk so you can restore it if needed. So, technically, that's two neat tips today! WOW!
Almost 1,000 hits on the webcam. "Insane" is the only word that comes to mind.
Things are coming along nicely with the Donahue Family Tree. I have decided to host it as a portal site at once it is ready. There will be forums and several tools available. Look for that to be 100% finished by the end of August, but launched sometime in the next two weeks.
I dropped 1 stroke on my handicap in golf!! For my regular partners, I am planning to add more statistical data to the golf pages. Give me a week or so as I figure it out.
HBO: The Sopranos
HBO has scheduled an encore run of the first three seasons of THE SOPRANOS back-to-back for the first time ever. Beginning Sunday, Aug. 12 (8:00-9:00PM ET), every Sunday night for 39 weeks, concluding in mid-2002. All three seasons will be presented in widescreen format, marking the first time seasons one and two have been seen in widescreen on HBO. The fourth season is scheduled to begin airing in June 2002.
I love my wife. She's the best. We had an awesome vacation together in Florida and I really hope she had as much fun being with me as I did spending time with her.
We're off for a date tonight. First one in a month or so (unless you count vacation!) We're going out for dinner and a movie. Who knows? Maybe we'll splurge and get ice cream afterwards!
So, if you're out tonight and you see some beautiful woman walking around with a troll, please come up to us and say hi!
This whole webcam thing is going a little overboard. We put up the "live" version on Wednesday night (I think). Since then, we've had over 350 viewers and counting! The camera is hosted on a public server (www.camarades.com) and they "list" all the public camaras. So, I guess the dogs are on their way to instant celebrity!!
I am working on allowing email notification for my log posts and Merrin's posts (yeah, right!) It should be working by the end of the week. Be on the lookout. Also, Merrin asked me today how to "write stuff on the internet", so perhaps she is planning some power posting! More later!
