Stuff I Love: Dynamo Illuminator Wind-up LED Flashlight
No list of "Stuff I Love" would be complete without the OUTSTANDING Dynamo Illuminator Wind-up LED Flashlight.
Roughly the size of a small cordless razor, this hand-crank LED flashlight is perfect for keeping in your car/truck or an emergency drawer in the house. Even a few seconds of cranking gives you several minutes of light. It won't double for a hammer the way a maglight can, but it will never leave you in the dark, either.
Another thing I like about the Dynamo is the very wide spot given off by the three LEDs. If you've ever had to change a tire in the dark or find something in the garage, you will appreciate the roughly basketball-sized light beam. Or, if you need a more focused beam (or just want to conserve power), you can toggle to a single LED.
The Dynamo flashlight can be had for less than $10 at Amazon. Not bad at all.

Six months
Six months ago today - almost to the hour - I signed the job offer that would bring us to Florida.
Wow. Has it really been only six months ago?! And — at the same time — has it really been just six months?!
As some of you know, I really had no intention of leaving my past job… at all… possibly ever. But the offer to take my current position was too good to pass up. And so, we started down this path.
I don't know if I've ever posted about it, but the day I left my last job was one of the most difficult, most inspiring, and most emotional days of my professional career.

Just me & Mr. Bob Uecker
Most of you kids might not be old enough to remember Bob Uecker's commercials, but…
Looks like "I must be in the front row!" for some FSU home games… my baby got me season tickets!

Are you listening?
On the drive into work this morning, there were eight hot air balloons all lifting off amid the fog. Now I've seen one or two ballons at a time in this area - but… eight? All at once? That was a first. That got my attention.
I switched radio channels and ended up in the middle of Brad Paisley's "Letter to Me" - a song that I've heard enough to be ready to change it, but I didn't want to.
The next song on the radio was one that I had never heard - "I Saw God Today" by George Strait.
I turned east to head into downtown and was met by an AMAZING sunrise. I mean… just… WOW. Amazing.
And the surreal thing about driving into that sunrise is that you can no longer make out the billboards. You can't read the ads, but you can still see that the signs are there.
Next song on radio? "Believe" by Brooks and Dunn.
Hearing that song, driving into that sunrise, seeing those signs, knowing that this was a letter to me….
It may not make any sense to you… but it moved me… and I am listening.

It's NASCAR Season
Rob put together a pretty clever proof of concept ad for the upcoming NASCAR Season, which starts this weekend in Daytona.
Of course, it could also be a great commercial for driving in the state of Florida, too. ![]()

Experiencing the real Florida
Merrin and I got to see the "real" Florida this weekend from the deck of an airboat. (Pictures)
I gotta say, this is one of the coolest things you can do in Central Florida. We had a great time at Boggy Creek Airboat Rides on Lake Tohopekaliga — part of the headwaters of the Florida Everglades.
We saw endagered birds, a ton of turtles, and — of course — alligators.
If you haven't been on an airboat ride, I would *highly* recommend it. We're definitely going back one day to do the extended sundown tour.
