The only prescription is more island

Morning on the High Rocks
Originally uploaded by kevindonahue.

I knew I shouldn't do it… but I did it anyway. I started listening to my beach music iMix yesterday and — sure enough — I know have a bad case of island fever.

I thought, "Well, I'll just re-do my blog header and that will do." Nope - no cure at all. And I should know better - I do this to myself around this time every year.

I've got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell island. After all, I am solar powered.

So… even though we are locked and loaded to head out this spring (well, all except the part where we pick some dates), don't be surprised if you see me hang a "gone out island" sign around this place in the next few weeks.

If anyone is out in Texas freezing their baguettes off, well - you're welcome to join me.

In the meantime, I'll be the guy looking for seashells out in the yard, drinking Kalik and listening to Buffett, Chesney, and Jerry Jeff.

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom

So… did everyone have a good Christmas? Good, great, glad you did.

Now, enough about you - let's talk about me.

I had a *GREAT* Christmas. Great as in world's best ever outstanding fantastico!

As everyone already knows - I have the world's best wife. And by "best", I mean *the* best.

Why? She is sending me to the Richard Petty Racing School.

That's right - read it and weep, suckers. In just a few weeks, I'm going to be running hot laps at the Walt Disney World Speedway in a real NASCAR racer.

Of course there will be tons and pictures to come but… if you'll excuse me, I need to go quit my job so I can run the NASCAR circuit full time. :)

White(r) Christmas

Yep. I am now going gray faster. Merrin's mom - who flew into town yesterday for the Christmas holiday - has confirmed it.

I've been noticing it a little more silver in my hair these days (not that I care that much). My father was gray fairly young, too, so my time is fast approaching over the next 12-18 months. I'm sure some of you will be nice enough to point out the transition in my flickr pictures over the next year or two.

But… it could be worse. My younger brother… well, he's more concerned with sunblock than with gray hair! ;)

College Bowl Season is here!

College bowl season finally kicks off tonight with the epic Navy - Utah game. (OK, so they can't all be homeruns, but… I've waited so long!)

The complete 2007-2008 College Football Bowl schedule is online. Enjoy!

If you need me, I'll be on the couch with my smoking hot wife watching some sweet HD.

Not in the sense that you think I said I did

What would Christmas be without the holiday yule log? Or, in this day and age, the iYule - a free, roaring, holiday yule log for your iPod.

"…which is to say christmas, as in yule… yule log…. Not a log, I don't have a log. I mean you know. If I had a log, not in the sense that you think I said I did.

(laughs)

Good golly. 'Tis the season to be merry."

'Tis the season indeed.

ooey-gooey good

And now, a post for my good friend Camille, who's spidey senses shout "Capitalism!" any time I appear all altruistic with my tech-savvy how-to's… ((sigh))

My wife makes the best brownies IN THE WORLD. Seriously.

Did y'all know that brownies are my favorite treat? I like cookies (and pie), but I lovez the brownies.

She doesn't make them often, but… damn. Ooey… gooey… good (gu-ud!)

Convert AOL Email Address Book to Mac Address Book

With the holidays approaching, many people will be wondering how to download their AOL email address book to use in Mac OSX's default Address Book.

Luckily enough, AOL already has a tool that will allow you to download your AOL address book into OSX. To convert your AOL email contacts, all you need is to download the AOL Service Assistant and run the application.

The program will download and sync your AOL contacts into the Mac Address Book. (Ta-da!)

Convert AOL Email Address Book to Google Gmail

As you probably know, Google's GMail is all the rage (and has been for the past few years). But as the service continues to expand, more and more people are leaving AOL and using the Google Gmail email.

The one drawback — of course — is that all of your AOL email address contacts are stored on your AOL account and need to be downloaded and converted to Gmail.

Have no fear - converting your AOL email address book to Google is pretty easy.
