Dear new neighbors…

Please secure your wireless internet connections. It's bad enough that there are at least a half dozen open wireless connections in my new neighborhood, but it really maes me question exactly why I'm wasting my time waiting for the guy to come hook up the high-speed. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. I had to thank my neighbors too, when we first moved. Otherwise, I couldn't have gotten my fix.

I really don't get how there are still people out there who don't know to secure their connections.

  2. One great reason to leave your connection unsecured is that if you ever get a nasty letter from the RIAA you have a good "It wasn't me" defense.

  3. I would agree with you if people were better about setting firewalls or changing the default passwords. As it stands right now, I could probably browse their entire network, reset all their connection settings, and generally cause chaos because they aren't locked up.

Nothing is foolproof, but this is like leaving a sign out for just anybody to come in and browse around.
