Cowboy Boots and Bathing Suits
Driving home last night I heard Jerry Jeff Walker's Cowboy Boots & Bathin' Suits.
We've been here a week or so,
Now it's finally time to go.
Can't believe how quickly time has flown,
Packin' up the bathin' suits,
Getting out the cowboy boots,
That’s a sign we must be going home….Time just stopped for a little while,
We were part of a tiny island.
Made a lot of friends we'll keep for life.
When we get back home to Texas,
And they ask us what we missed most,
I'll shrug my shoulders, and I'll smile….Early mornings on the long boat dock,
Drinkin' coffee as the sun comes up
Lazy days napping in the big deck chair.
Late night dancing in the front street bar,
Walking home underneath the stars,
Man it's like some dream we live down here….Last night we ate conch and lobster.
Mark said it was his favorite dinner,
Maybe even the best one of his life.
Dining underneath the stars
Chilean wine and Cuban cigars,
I smiled at him and said you could be right….And he got real quiet, and he said you know,
hell I worked hard all my life,
I made a lot of dough.
I've been everywhere,
I don't think it gets any better than down here.
I mean the warmth and love of the people here,
No crime, no hate, or fear
I don't think I'm ready for the world waiting for me back there….I need me just….
One more morning on the long boat dock,
Drinking coffee as the sun comes up,
Drinking bilikin beer in the big deck chair.
Late night dancin' in a front street bar,
Makin' love under the stars,
Man it's like some dream we live down here….Walking home underneath the stars,
Hearing voices from that empty bar,
Man it's like some dream we live done there….We've been here a week or so,
Now it's finally time to go.
Can't believe how quickly time as flown.
Packin' up the bathin' suits,
gettin' out the cowboy boots,
That’s a sign we must be goin' home….
I miss you guys. I can't wait until we're together again down there.

People's Republic of Beer & Wings
For whatever reason… I was on the Hooter's website and noticed that they are opening their FOURTH location in the People's Republic of China. Good to know that — when we finally get the call to go to China — that we will be able to enjoy beer & chicken wings.
Hey… when in China….

How to: Convert iTunes song as Palm Treo Ringtone
My Palm Treo phone (a Treo 650) has some decent output for mp3s, so I wanted to convert a song in iTunes to use as a ring tone .
How to convert a song in iTunes to ringtone for Treo:
1. Open iTunes, choose a song you like, and play it. NOTE: [purchased music won't work this way]
2. Watch the time on the top of the window and make note of the start time you want the sound to start and the sound to end….so for example, it you like the part of song 30 seconds into it then that would be your start time and if it ends 20 seconds later then your start time is :30 and your end time is :50
3. With the song still selected, go to File>Get Info
4. This brings up the window with Summary, Info, Options, Lyrics and Artwork, CLICK options.
5. Now just add the start and end times.
6. Close window
7. With the song still selected….go to ADVANCED>Convert Selection to Mp3. It will make a copy of the snippet for you in Mp3 format. Your original song remains untouched.
8. Drag the new Mp3 into the Install on Card window in Missing Sync. And do a sync and BINGO…you have customized ringtones added to your SD card on your Treo!!!
If you want to take this one step further, you can assign a different ringtone per caller using mRing.
Enjoy!

Only in America
Hot on the heels of the infamous, "Don't taze me, bro" video, comes the…
and — of course — the "Don't Taze Me, Bro" Lego re-enactment.
Alright, seriously… y'all get back to work. ![]()

A House is not a Home
I found our next house over the weekend - a rental with a fenced yard for the dogs and a pool for the wife. Of course, it's just a house for now… until she gets moved down here in a couple of weeks.
We'll rent for a year and probably build a house northeast of Orlando, if all goes according to plan.
And no, thanks for asking, it is nowhere near Disney. In fact, it's a couple of minutes hours days drive from Disney, so you'll just have to get a hotel room. ![]()

No good neighbors?
I've been spending a lot of time trying to find a new house here in Florida and I've realized something about Florida - there are a lot of homes that don't have fenced yards. Why? I have no idea.
In Texas, almost all the homes in subdivisions have fences. Since we have dogs (and someday, a kiddo), we need to get our fence on. And, as the old saying goes, fences make the best neighbors.
The house hunt continues… fences or no.

The little lights… they're not twinkling, Clarke
I just got back to my room (lot of traffic on the elevator tonight
) to find that my Slingbox is not answering my beck & call. ARGH! Could be a lot of things, I suppose… network router needs reset, power went off, Tivo is off, etc…
Luckily my tech support guru slash wife is on the scene! ![]()

Is the black beard from years ago? All references to current events only happen when the picture is paused and a still picture is shown. Fake?

The Slingbox-ness
With me living out of the hotel in Orlando, I'm miles and miles away from my Tivo and the ESPN Gameplan college football package. I have to tell you - the separation has been killing me. (And my wife & dogs, too, of course.) If only there was some way to have access to my DirecTV, Tivos, and ESPN Gameplan when I'm in Orlando.
Enter the Slingbox AV.
The Slingbox links my DirecTV/Tivo to a private channel on the internet, allowing me to access my stuff anywhere in the world - just like if I were home! In other words, the Slingbox "slings" (beams) my entertainment center anywhere I go with internet access. (demo)
I can watch anything I've recorded, watch live TV on either/both tuners, and program new recordings - all through a virtual Tivo remote that looks just like the one I use at home.
The compression is exceptional, so — provided you have a broadband connection — there is very little noticeable degradation. It's literally just like watching TV.
The setup was quick and painless. Plug it in, plug in the network and away you go. The Slingbox will even set itself up in your router so that you may access it from anywhere worldwide without having to mess with any settings (port forwarding, etc).
If you travel frequently and miss a lot of your favorite programs/channels/team's games, you should definitely check out the Slingbox. I know it probably sounds like I'm shilling for them (I'm not), but this is a seriously awesome product - especially for sports fans.
I am 100% smitten with the Slingbox-ness.

Looking for a spicy, little single
Just a quick thought/question: Why don't they make single-serve salsa cups?
We've got single applesauce, ranch dressing cups, pudding cups, and even Tostitos Nacho Cheese cup singles.
Why can't salsa get any love? I would have thought the brains at Campbell's (who own Pace Foods) would be all over this. But… since they're not… just send me the royalty checks (or at least a free lifetime supply!) ![]()
