I am solar powered

For the better part of three months, I've been working almost non-stop to get ready for a very important presentation at work. Well, Thursday *finally* came and it went very well. I got some kudos from a couple of the VPs from corporate that participated.

But now… I'm exhausted. I'm running on "E". Or that little bit of left over after you get past "E". Way too many hours in the office left me with nothing.

And then it finally dawned on me: I AM SOLAR POWERED.

I need to get away and recharge. I need the sun, and a little sand & sea wouldn't hurt either. A trip to the islands is definitely in order. I mean, that's way closer to the equator (i.e. more sun). You know what they say… changes in latitude, changes in attitude.

I need this. Or this. And this, this, and this. And more than a little of this.

((sigh))

But vacay is still a few months away. At least I can look forward to a Valentine's getaway with Mrs. Donahue.

I am ENFJ

I can't tell you how many versions of the Myers-Briggs tests that I've taken (this one most recently), but they usually end up with about the same results: ENFJ

ENFJs are the benevolent 'pedagogues' of humanity. They have tremendous charisma by which many are drawn into their nurturant tutelage and/or grand schemes. Many ENFJs have tremendous power to manipulate others with their phenomenal interpersonal skills and unique salesmanship. But it's usually not meant as manipulation — ENFJs generally believe in their dreams, and see themselves as helpers and enablers, which they usually are.

ENFJs are global learners. They see the big picture. The ENFJs focus is expansive. Some can juggle an amazing number of responsibilities or projects simultaneously. Many ENFJs have tremendous entrepreneurial ability.

I don't see myself as much of a teacher, although that quality is starting to come out a little in my day-to-day leadership at work. Perhaps that's something that is refined with age.

But the other stuff… dreamer, schemer, seller - yeah. That's me.

Project 365 Update

I've finally caught up on uploading and/or taking my Project 365 photos. Some of my pictures got trapped in my camera when my batteries and flash reader went kaputski on the same day.

So, I ended up having to take some "make-up" photos, but I didn't post those to the group, just to my own Project 365 set.

This particular shot is of an old lantern that sits on a table in our back yard. G Cooper used to play with this lantern every time he would come over - opening up the lantern, pulling out the "paper" fabric inside the lantern, and closing the latch. And then putting the paper back. And then repeating.

Today I checked the lantern and the paper is still there. All that's missing is the boy.

FIOS enabled phones coming soon

Forbes dropped this little nugget in their Verizon article, detailing a FIOS enabled phone the company plans to launch later this year:

Keep an eye out for the next-generation Verizon One, a 5.6 gigahertz cordless phone with a sleek touch-screen panel. It's connected to Fios and lets you get real-time traffic, weather, maps, caller ID with photos, stores addresses and phone numbers–and can revert to a screen saver with images licensed from the Museum of Modern Art. You can also tap its menus to order a pizza from Pizza Hut. You used to have to pick up the phone to do that.

As a very satisfied Verizon FIOS customer, this is pretty cool news. I'm also excited about the plans to upgrade speeds. 15 megabit is pretty good, but that 50 megabit looks really sexy. :)

Google Reader still lacks search

Nick Baum of the Google Reader Blog says the Google Reader team looks to bloggers for ideas to innovate and extend Google Reader.

I have only one suggestion for Nick on how to improve Google Reader: Add Google to it.

Google Reader is great — hey, I quit using my licenscened version of NetNewsWire, after all — but I don't want to have to use Greasemonkey scripts to simply search my read and unread feed items.

And I'm not the only one asking for this, Nick. The Google Reader Group is full of search feature requests.

I mean - it's a Google product that doesn't do search. Hello?!

No tacos for you slackers!

More ice & snow today. Yuck. Luckily all the schools are closed so it looks like most folks stayed home and the traffic was very light.

I called my team this morning and told them to stay home, too.

Am I just a nice boss? Nah. Turns out that it's "TACO DAY" in the employee cafeteria so… more for me! ;)

I'll say this - this ice & snow has totally my island fever. BOAT DRINKS!!!

For those of you scoring at home, that's five Big Kev Taco Day's so far this year, or roughly once every ten meals. FIESTA!!
