It slices, it dices, it filets
What doesn't this knife do? Heck if I know, but I bet it wouldn't fit in my pocket.
The Most Incredible Knife
Wenger wants you to do one thing: throw out your old knives. Actually, it wants you to do several things: throw out your bike tools, your toiletries, your laser pointer and so on, because you can find all of these instruments in a huge Swiss Army knife, which includes every tool the company makes. Wenger is calling the contraption “Giant Knife Version 1.0.” It debuted with all 85 features and can perform hundreds of functions.Who doesn’t need a cigar cutter next to a bicycle chain rivet setter next to a golf divot repair tool? Wenger is on to something with this everyman’s gadget. It wouldn’t be a knife, though, without a blade, so Wenger put seven in the line-up. And it wouldn’t be Swiss Army unless it came with tweezers and a toothpick. (They’re included, too.)
I know what you're thinking… twelve hundo.

How RSS feeds can work for retailers
I live by my RSS Newsreader (NetNewsWire on the Mac & NewsGator Online at work). For me, it's a lot easier to get the blog posts, news, and weather when I want it.
It's a much faster delivery, because — even though I'm reading 300+ sites — I don't have to visit them. Instead, that news comes to me. I suppose that makes me the perfect target for one of the newer trends: retail RSS feeds.
Now, a company that I have shopped with (Lids) is bringing targeted retail RSS straight to my newsreader. Lids sells hats (and a few other things, but mostly hats) to sports fans and fashionistas. I'll leave it to you to decide where I fit into the mix.
The guys at Lids have RSS feeds to show off their new merchandise. If you're a fan of, say, Florida State, then the Lids.com Florida State page has its own RSS feed with photos and prices for all the new products and styles.
So, I've subscribed to the FSU Lids feed. It costs Lids *very* little bandwidth to show me new products that I want to see. I can't promise that I'll buy something, but I'm sure most retailers would like their odds seeing that I've (1) opted-in, and (2) their able to target products I'm interested in.
This sort of targeted feed is the future of business-to-customer retailing. Think about it: if you're a knitter and your favorite store has a new product RSS feed, you can get see their yarns anytime it's updated. Ditto for coffee, cars, shoes, movies, airfare, hotels, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc infinity!

How to backup Gmail
My dear old Dad had a good question that pops up from time to time: How do I back up Google Gmail messages?
While backing up your Gmail account email isn't neccisarily intuitive, it is quite simple to accomplish.

Will August 22nd be the end of days?
August 22, 2006 is generally accepted by Shiite Muslims as the day on which the Hidden Imam is to be revealed. (This year, Aug. 22 corresponds, in the Islamic calendar, to the 27th day of the month of Rajab of the year 1427.) The return of the Hidden Imam would be coupled with the return of the Messenger Isa (Jesus) and signifies the end of days (Armageddon in the Christian faith).
What makes August 22, 2006 even more worrisome for some, however, is that Iranian President Ahmadinejad - whom Iranian clerics have named the "chosen" of the Hidden Imam and who has spoken many times about his desire to ready the world for the return of the Hidden Imam - has chosen this day (a Tuesday, oddly enough) to "answer the world" regarding his country's plans for nuclear power.
So, what will Ahmadinejad say? Or, even more worrisome, what might Ahmadinejad attempt to do to bring about the Hidden Imam?
