There are two schools of thought in business: lead or follow. You can be a market innovator, or you can simply follow your competition's lead.
I bring this up because our guys have a reputation for innovating. First hotel chain (1930), first guest credit cards (1946), first with room service (1969), first in-house Chef schools (1978), first with voice mail (1991), first to address hotel bedding with the Heavenly Bed (1999) and the first smoke-free brand.
Today, the market began to follow – just as they have every time before.
I'm proud of our guys. We take risks. Sometimes we fail, but we're never afraid to. And that is what makes us a great company.
