Distantly in love

So far this year I've managed a whopping four total days where I wasn't at work or a work function. Seeing how today is the 26th, that's not a real good ratio. Things don't look to slow down until next weekend.

This week its sunny south Florida. From my balcony, you've got a pretty nice view of the beach, a few sailboats, and the ocean. Maybe I'll get up early and see the sun come up on the Atlantic before duty calls.

Not a bad spot to be, I guess, but it's a long, long way away from my wife. :-(

Crank up the Foghat

Car shows hand out lots of awards, but here's the first time I've ever seen best new car for getting it on.

Love mobile: 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
She said: "We know about parking, and this is a good car to go parking in or to the drive-in."

Kudos to The Detroit News for asking the hard hitting questions.

Mmm…good

It's a pretty well documented fact that the dear, sweet wife is an exceptional cook. We're talking restaurant-quality, can make anything from anything, full-on chef.

This week –and I can only presume it's a welcome home surprise– she's gone full-on comfort food. Stuff that I love, but served in completely different ways.

First up: well, it's no secret that I love chicken wings, so she made Buffalo Chicken Chili. I wish I had taken a picture, but let's just say it passed the good neighbor test. Spicy chicken, celery, carrots, Franks Extra Hot, and beer - all seasoned and cooked to perfection. AWESOME!!

And last night - Cumin Chicken Pasta. All the great flavor of my regular taco night, garnished with spinach, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, etc, etc - for a fantastic pasta dish that looked as good as it tasted.

And you wonder why I've gained 60 pounds in the last twelve years. :-)

bin Laden

Yahoo has a an AP photo of Osama bin Laden with a caption that refers to him as a 'dissident'. Not a terrorist, mind you, but a dissident.

And the press wonders why people hate the media.

Sunny Southern California

Off to Southern California for a few days - work related stuff…on a holiday weekend…no rest for the wicked, I guess. :-)
I'm running an ad-hoc wireless network in the room to power the Mac & the PSP (which I commandeered from Merrin for this trip). Pretty stable so far - but I doubt I'll get much any time to use it. They've got us running pretty much all day, every day.

Which reminds me… gotta run.

This has to be the funniest blonde joke I've seen in a long time.

Guana on the brain

We're planning another trip to Guana again this spring, hopefully by May. But from the Flickr uploads to the del.icio.us tagging, to the updated header image (the rocks at Nippers Bar, fwiw), I've seriously got Guana on the brain. Hell, last night I even spent some time flying (well, crashing actually) into the airport at Marsh Harbor.

I'm not sure I can wait until May, though. Anybody up for a trip to the Abacos?

Free wifi

Don't ask me how I know, but there's free wi-fi available at Nippers.
