I'd agree with the first paragraph of the article, Red Bul does taste teh nasty. But, it's also a grad student's best friend. I buy the stuff by the case at Sam's and keep it in my locker in the PhD study suite with my stash of trail mix, green tea and wasabi peas. Hell, I got the stupid Sam's Club membership so that I could by Red Bull in sufficient quantities.
The Thai version tastes better(, too).
