Go, Target, it's your birthday

How great is it that Target is now running an ad featuring an Earth, Wind & Fire song?!?!? It came on tonight, and I'm not ashamed — Merrin & I totally rocked out! :-)

Wind Gusts > 50mph

Winds around here are a sustained 30+ mph with gusts in excess of 50mph. A little stronger than normal. It will be interesting to see if the oldest panels on my fenceline makes it through the night.

What?!

The weatherman just said that the wind is really bad tonight. So bad, in fact, that he said there is "blowing mud throughout much of the area."

Blowing mud?! What the heck?!

151 minutes and three seconds

Florida State averted the embarrassment of a shutout by scoring its first offensive touchdown since the second quarter of the Nov. 5 loss against North Carolina State.

For those counting, that's nine quarters, 151 minutes and three seconds between FSU touchdowns.

"The whole house came down. The team fell apart."

"I never imagined it happening this way," said Weatherford, who grew up an FSU fan.

Yeah, me neither.

Merrin did the tree in peppermint this year - everything is red & white! This is a "gift's eye view" from under this nine & a half foot peppermint wonder!

Seriously, seriously humiliated

I just watched one of the most embarrassing & humiliating FSU losses in a long, long time. We got our butts kicked on offense, defense, and special teams. We got out-coached and out-played. And just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, reality sets in and you realize that it was the damn Gators that did it.

Maybe schmed was right - maybe we will finish 7-6 this year. There's no question that we're going to drop out of the top 25 for the first time since 1989.

I've come to grips with the fact that this thing can't be fixed this year. This team is locked in a death spiral.

The defensive coaches are solid - we're the #10 D in the country (not that #10 is "OK" in my book, but still). It's pretty clear that the defense is now on full-improv mode, though. They're playing out of position just trying to make something happen since they know the offense isn't going to make a play. It's devolved from a scheme to pure sandlot football, but at least those guys are trying to make something happen.

We need to clean house and fire Jeff Bowden as offensive coordinator. This isn't a one game reaction - the team has been in free fall since Richt left. If Saint Bobby doesn't want to be the one to do, then the AD needs to step in at this point. Our play calling consists of: 1) run it up the middle, 2) screen pass, 3) throw an interception, and 4) punt. The only thing we've improved at this year is #3 - so whatever they're teaching to help them throw more interceptions is sinking in. We need to apply that same intensity to, oh - I don't know, drawing up one more play.

I understand it's not as easy as the armchair mafia would have you believe. I don't have any answers, but even I'm starting to think that FSU could AT LEAST try trips bunch right, one wide left, one back right. At least get creative. Give yourself a formation that has different options: toss sweep, WR screen, crossing curls, deep wheels, RB screen, etc - all from the same bunch trips formation! (Amazing concept) But all we seem to do is run the same damn play, the same damn way. And the team seems shocked with the same damn results every time.

AH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't felt this bad since Wide Right.

Happy Thanksgiving, Santa

How I spent my Thanksgiving morning:

7:30a - Happy Thanksgiving!
7:50a - Christmas tree carried into Chez Donahue
8:01a - Christmas tree is in place & fully lit
8:01:01a - Let's get our drink on
8:02a - XM's "Holly" channel is blaring "Need a Little Christmas"
8:03a - Rocking around the Christmas tree

Supposedly there's some parade & stuff on later (bah)

Happy Thanksgiving! Merry Christmas!

(PS - Go Noles! Beat the Gators!)
