Geaux away, Katrina

Just a quick shout out to my friends in Bayou country before y'all lose power. We'll be down in Baton Rouge on Friday for the LSU game, so we'll see you then. Until then, y'all be careful and we'll see you on the other side.

Comments welcome

PT has removed comments from her blog.

With someone like PT (who is probably more thoughtful and cares more about other people than most in this world!) removes comments from her blog, I feel pretty confident that it's been well thought out and probably debated for some time.

That said, I can't tell her so, but I can't because…well, the comments are gone.

There are times when I don't allow comments, but that's usually because it's a very personal issue. But most of the time - the vast majority of the time - I want to hear from you. I've gotten more out of your thoughts, I suspect, than you have from mine. And I've made a few friends along the way.

So…comments welcome (unless I say otherwise and then comments off, but until then…comments welcome!)

Where the hell am I?

So, after months & months (and months!) of drooling over GPS devices, I bit the bullet and went with a Magellan RoadMate 300.

I went with this one mainly because I could get one for half price and because -let's be honest- it's probably more powerful than I need, so no point in buying a bigger mamma-jamma. Right? 98% percent of my driving is to work & back. And having seen the same Magellan technology in the Hertz Never Lost systems, I was pretty sure this would work for me.

After a little tooling around with it, I think even Merrin likes it. Of course, she's quite certain that it's going to get me killed ("Don't play with that thing while the car is moving!"), but I explained I'm just as likely to be not paying attention to almost anything else as I was the GPS, so I think that soothed her nerves.

Now if I could just program it to say "Turn here, big boy!"

I played chicken with a train

Over at Fanblogs, I go hypothetical on playing H-O-R-S-E with (former FSU OC) Georgia head coach Mark Richt.

Oh, yeah, Mark Richt? Let's see how you handle my from-your-knees, one-handed, snapping fingers one your left hand, right-hand, under-handed, one bounce, off the chimney, ABA ball, nothing but net. Yeah, they don't make enough Powerade for you to handle that.

Anybody else watching this?

I'm really getting into Steven Bochco's 'Over There' on FX. It's the best show that's not on HBO.

Yours truly joins the Football Writers Association of America

With all the work we've been doing over at the college football blog, I guess it just seems natural that I would become a member of the Football Writers Association of America. Long story short, your's truly will be rubbing elbows with Dennis Dodd, Tony Barnhart, etc, etc.

Oh, and I'll be voting for the 25-man FWAA All-America Team, Outland Trophy, Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award.

Not bad for a little blogger man.

My girl robot

I've laughed a couple of times at the Citibank "I'm building my girl robot" credit card fraud commercial. Until today. My credit card number got hit for several fraudulent charges. Bastards.

Thanks, Jamie

I did a quick five minutes on AOL Sports Bloggers Live radio program/podcast today for Fanblogs talking about college football. It was great! I hope to do it again soon.
