Back that azz up!

by Kevin Donahue on July 6, 2005

I can't begin to tell you how proud I am of myself…but I'll try. I have just finished installing a reverse sensor system in the truck. While that may mean little to you, it was quite an undertaking (which could possibly be a huge understatement.)

I had to drill holes into the rear bumper (DRILL HOLES! IN THE NEW BUMPER!), run the wires, rig a harness, and run the wire to the display on the rear view mirror. (Did you read the part about drilling in the new truck bumper?!)

So it works great, especially in such a large truck. And it looks FANTASTIC – just like a factory install.

Now the world behind me will be safe! (photos to follow)

Can't wait to see the photos. I've been wanting one of those on my truck too. How long did it take? How hard was it?

The install was pretty easy, and would have been even easier if I knew my truck better (where to run the wire into the cab, etc). I got the unit for $40 off ebay, very pleased.

The most challenging part (mentally) was coming to grips with the fact that I was going to drill holes in the bumper. I waxed them, just to be sure afterwards, but just the thought of drilling a perfectly good bumper took some time.

I would totally recommend it. Very accurate. I'll get some pictures up.
