Best Moment of the Holidays

by Kevin Donahue on December 27, 2003

I had my best (and most terrifying) moment of…well, probably my whole life this year during the holidays.

Merrin and I were driving the home from her mother's. She was driving one car (with all three dogs in tow) and I was driving the other. I looked back in the mirror and I could see all of them, right there in the car: Merrin, Abby, Rigley, and Chloe. And that's when it hit me.

A couple of seconds later the phone rang, and it was Merrin calling me from her car. I don't remember exactly what she said, maybe it was just a clarification on what roads we were going to take. I told her exactly what I was thinking:

"Drive careful – you've got my whole life in that car."

That's one of those "what's really important" moments. :)
