Fanblogs.com

by Kevin Donahue on August 11, 2003

Well things are moving fast & furious over at my other project, Fanblogs.com. I've made some recent code updates (as has my partner in crime, Pete) and the results behind the scenes (and in front) are moving us towards a much better group weblog project. Blogwise, Fanblogs is taking up the vast majority of my time.

If you're a college football fan, Fanblogs is definitely for you. I've set up a full syndication array: sitewide rss, conference rss feeds, and team specific rss feeds. Your newsreader could go nuts with all the good stuff we've put in there. There's a lot of pretty interesting group weblog techniques that we're trying to implement. I will sit down later this week and try to document them,

We've got some good authors and we're starting to get some decent hits. I think when the football season hits, we might be a little overwhelmed – but that's a good thing. Hopefully you football fans will join me over there. At the very least, you can always just give Fanblogs a courtesy spot on your blogroll!

I took a look the other day, and it does look pretty cool. At the time I didn't realize you were one of the creator's and I was wondering why you had so many posts, doh.

I found a php thingy that will parse rss 1.0 feeds and put the Big XII headlines on my blog. If I find one just as easy for rss 2.0 feeds, I'll put the sitewide headlines there instead. :)
