Barry's gonna hang half a hundred!!

Barry!I'll admit it. I love Barry Switzer. I never rooted for OU, but I love a guy who goes on TV for interviews and says, "It's the same damn team so we're going to do the same damn thing. We're gonna run the damn ball." There's something so…I don't know the right word, but it's just an attitude that is unique to the Oklahoma/Texas part of the country.

I never got the chance to see Barry coach in person either @ OU or with the Cowboys. I've seen him on TV about a hundred times and I've met the guy, but never seen him coach. Well, here's my chance.

BARRY SWITZER RETURNS TO COACHING

That's right. Some of you may have heard it on The Ticket first, but I'll help spread the word. Barry is headed back to coaching. The sport?

Hockey.

No, Robyn, Todd, et all, I am not "shitting" you. Barry Switzer will coach "TEAM HARDLINE" for The Ticket's CHARITY CHALLENGE ON ICE VI. Barry will be following in the footsteps of former Team Hardline & NHL coaching legend Ken Hitchcock.

Barry has been on the radio, TV, and around D/FW promoting the event. My favorite Barry-ism so far, "Hell yeah we're gonna win. I don't give a damn if it is hockey. I'm gonna tell my guys to run the damn ball…err…thing and we sure as hell are gonna hang half a hundred on 'em."

There's a big effort to see if Barry won't don the red Sansabelt pants one more time from the bench.

For those of you in the D/FW area who need tickets, there's more details at The Ticket Online or here. This is the only radio station I know of that could sell out pro hockey arenas five straight years, so you better get your tickets quick if you want to see Barr-ah! All proceeds go to benefit the Dallas Stars Foundation. If you can't get tickets, last years was on TV, so stay tuned for details. (R, I will tape it and try to get you a copy if you like!)

Will Barry be on skates? "Hell no."

  1. Awwwww…man. You can't tease like that! A few great Switzer quotes:

"It was like a heart transplant. We tried to implant college in him but his head rejected it."

"Some people are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple."

There was also the old post-texas interview they aired on Channel 9 in OKC this year — where he referred to the game as "a real ball-kicker".

    Man, I love that guy.
